Work With Us at Hållfjället

Hållfjället is a small mountain hotel in roadless country above the village of Ottsjö in the southern Åre mountains of Sweden. Here, people from around the world gather around long dinners, exceptional ingredients, wood-fired saunas and a longing for something simpler, slower and more present.

We grow our own vegetables, work closely with local producers, fish, forage and cook according to the seasons. We are a small team where everyone helps out and where care for our guests, colleagues and the place we call home is just as important as professional skill.

Working at Hållfjället is not quite like working at an ordinary hotel or restaurant. During working weekends we live together on the mountain and become part of the same daily rhythm. It requires responsibility, humility and a willingness to contribute to something larger than yourself.

We are now looking for new team members for the coming seasons:

Full-time, June–October 2026

We are looking for an experienced chef who enjoys working in an open kitchen and appreciates being close to both ingredients and guests.

You will become part of a small kitchen team where we cook from scratch using vegetables from our own gardens, local producers and game from the surrounding area.

We believe that you:

  • Have experience working in professional kitchens
  • Are self-driven and responsible
  • Enjoy working in small teams
  • Have a genuine interest in ingredients and craftsmanship

During working weekends we live together at the hotel. Accommodation is also available in Ottsjö.

Seasonal Position

We are looking for someone who truly loves hospitality.

At Hållfjället, service is about much more than serving food and wine. The role is varied and includes everything from recommending wines and welcoming guests to keeping the house running smoothly, noticing the small details and helping wherever needed.

We believe you thrive in an environment where everyone lends a hand and where care for guests, colleagues and the place itself is at the heart of everything we do.

We believe that you:

  • Have experience working in restaurant service
  • Have an interest in or knowledge of wine and beverages
  • Enjoy taking responsibility and working independently
  • Appreciate the importance of small details
  • Have a genuine interest in people and hospitality

You will be an important part of the overall guest experience and work closely with both the kitchen, hotel and guests.

During working weekends we live together at the hotel. Accommodation is also available in Ottsjö.

Seasonal Position

We are looking for a practical and hands-on person who would like to help care for Hållfjället behind the scenes.

This is a varied role for someone who enjoys solving problems before anyone else even notices them.

Tasks include:

  • Guest and staff transportation to and from the mountain
  • Property maintenance and basic building care
  • Maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Practical projects around the hotel and outdoor areas
  • Assisting guests and colleagues whenever needed

We believe you are self-motivated, solution-oriented and enjoy working outdoors in a mountain environment.
